About the Presenter(s):

Eric Coyle serves as the Data Dissemination Specialist for the U.S. Census Bureau. He is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders in Nevada through the dissemination of Census data and information. Eric’s primary responsibilities are to plan, coordinate, and implement data dissemination, and outreach. He conducts data access workshops and presentations every month to a variety of organizations, local governments, businesses, media, universities, etc.

Prior to joining the U.S. Census Bureau, Eric served as the Primary Training Officer for the Installation Operation Center, U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii, where he was primarily responsible for implementing the U.S. Pacific Command’s Emergency Action Program. While serving as the Primary Training Officer, Eric was recognized by the U.S. Army Pacific Command for directly contributing to the Installation Operation Center receiving an excellent rating three years in a row. Other responsibilities included, but were not limited to, serving as the Primary Communications and Operations Security Officer during both peacetime and crisis operations.

The Island of Oahu is also where Eric finished serving eight honorable years as a U.S. Marine, during which time he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal as well as the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. While stationed at Camp H.M. Smith, U.S. Marine Forces Pacific, he served as the G1 Manpower Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of all U.S. Central Command requirements and assisted in the development of Marine Forces Pacific personnel readiness assessments in support of Commander in Chief, Pacific Command and Commander in Chief, U.S. Central Command Joint Monthly Readiness Reviews. Eric also deployed to various countries in support of numerous operations, which include Operating Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation New Dawn. His experience in the Marine Corps was invaluable and helped establish his career within the Department of Defense, which lasted more than 17 years.

Transferring not only from the Department of Defense to the Department of Commerce, but also from Hawaii to Nevada, Eric has brought both his keen understanding of the value of data, and the spirit of Aloha with him. His goal is to help foster a wider appreciation for the importance and vast benefits of Census data as well as establish long-lasting partnerships with stakeholders in the state of Nevada.
