Part 2 of “How to Sell Your Product or Service Online” assumes that the small business owner has a functional website, ready to drive new customers from social media platforms to do business online.

Social Media Musts for Business Owners (topic one, runs from 8:30 – 11:30 AM) Social media has many platforms and is constantly changing and updating, providing vast opportunities for business owners. Entrepreneurs wear many hats, and relying on experts to keep them current and relevant is a smart practice to keep their businesses thriving, while others try to figure things out alone. How are you keeping current with your social media marketing and branding? Join the Nevada SBDC in this must-attend presentation! Agenda items include:

  • Basics and Tips for using Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram;
  • How to routinely post relevant content for your business;
  • Highlighting the power of Facebook and what that means;
  • Discuss what a “like,” “post,” and “page” are, as well as several other common  terminologies such as the “organic like”;
  • Different marketing strategies to get the most out of your Facebook usage, highlighting good and bad examples to illustrate;
  • Discuss the best 3rd party platforms to help your business run your social media accounts with ease;
  • Details on Twitter, who uses it and if it’s right for your business, as well as its function and common terminologies;
  • Ins and Outs of the platform on a Profile, how it should look, and Newsfeed, best times and best content to tweet;

Online Sales & Market Research (topic two, runs from 12:30 – 3:30 PM) This class will assist small business owners who are looking to add a new revenue stream through the world of online sales. Expanding your business into the online environment can seem daunting, but if done correctly can be a profitable experience. This class will go over distribution channels, competitors, and target markets. The market research part of this class will help individuals figure out who they need to target online and why. We will discuss how to do the following:

  • The basics of market research
  • Find your online customer base
  • Identify your competitors and learn from their strategies
  • Choose the eCommerce platforms that fit your product offering
  • Price your products appropriately
  • Interact with your customers through your website, social media platforms, and eCommerce platforms

About the Presenter(s):

Jake Carrico is an MBA student in the University of Nevada, Reno’s College of Business. He is also a graduate assistant and business development adviser at the Nevada Small Business Development Center.

Anthony Ciaramella is a graduate student in the Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno and serves as a business development adviser in the Nevada Small Business Development Center. Anthony's emphases are in Strategic Communications, marketing and social media. Anthony is an early adapter who strives to help individuals make sense of the ever changing media landscape.
