Are you an agricultural producer who wants to create new products and add value to your existing agricultural product? Are you growing something that is “Made In Nevada”?

Consumers continuously demand more quality choices in the foods they purchase. They have proven that they will spend more on organic, natural, locally home-grown foods because they believe that these (organic) products will be better tasting, and consumption will produce better health.

Few industries provide business opportunities for actual access to capital in the form of grants – $18 Million in grants, to be exact – money that is not to be paid back, but reported on for its value and merit, by the grant recipients.

9:00 am -12:00 pm:
VAPG Workshop: This is a unique program initiated to support rural prosperity for agricultural producers by helping them expand their markets. VAPGs can fund feasibility studies and marketing plans for a new product, or for operational costs directly related to processing and/or marketing of the value added product. Nevada businesses have used the VAPG funds to market new products, create labels for new products and conduct internal training on a new process.

1:00 – 2:30 pm:
VAPG Application Toolkit Assistance: USDA Rural Development Business Programs Specialist Michelle Kelly will lead those interested through the grant application process.

2:30 – 5:00 pm:
Basic Organics 101: Marcia Litsinger, board member of Basin and Range Organics will provide an overview of the state’s new Organic Certification process.

USDA Rural Development Nevada, the Nevada Small Business Development Center, Churchill Economic Development Authority, Basin and Range Organics, Made in Nevada and the Fallon Food Hub are co-sponsoring the workshop.
