What’s the Law? How to Choose the Right Business Entity

Event: What's the Law? How to Choose the Right Business Entity

Presenter(s): Crislove Igeleke, Nevada Legal Services

The legal structure you choose for your business is one of the most important decisions you will make in the startup process. There are four basic types of business entities, each having its own pros and cons.  Which of these structures is right for your business depends on the type of business you run, how many owners it has, and its financial situation. No one choice suits every business.

Business owners have to pick the structure that best meets their needs because it will impact how taxes are paid, distribution of profits, personal liability and ownership of the company. This seminar introduces the most important factors to consider, describes the business relationships inside of the entities, and a Q & A that will help each business owner with direct questions about their business.

“What’s the Law?” is a newly developed monthly workshop series designed by the Nevada Small Business Development Center and Nevada Legal Services. All workshops will be presented by the attorneys and professional staff from Nevada Legal Services with topic expertise. Each topic will be provided one month in Henderson, the next month in Las Vegas, totaling five legal topics in 2017. Supporting partners include the City of Henderson and the City of Las Vegas.
